all i know is how it works in the Philippines, most people there have a pre-paid phone.
i can spend $2.76 online & that lasts her all week long & she just loves to text all her fellow nurses & her province friends. So from where i am sitting that whole $80 bit sounds a lot like bull sheeet!!!!!!

In the meantime, my mum is talking to my uncle's wife..  My uncle married his girlfriend from Nicaragua.  VERY beautiful woman, smart, classy...  Great mother to her children.  Any women she could recommend to me would probably be class..

Just for info Jorge, Japan and South Korea are not the only Asian countries whose citizens can visit the USA without having to apply for a visa.

Singapore, along with 33 other countries, are also included in the Visa Waiver Program.

I AM 99.9% sure she is a scammer now.  Since I declined to send money for her phone, I haven't heard from her in days.

Thai phones are pay as you go. usually about 12 bucks is more than adequate for telephone reloads. That is about what I spend-including international to the kids- in a week

Like any other group of women, some are, some aren't. What human doesn't like nice things? Most of the Japanese and Korean women I know, seem to know very well to live on a budget. There are a few princesses who don't of course - but in general waaaay better than most AW. I know plenty of Japanese women and couples living in rented rooms, drive older cars, and shop in discount stores.

You will know which girls are very materialistic!  If you are looking for women that come from 'poor' countries, be aware these girls who have fancy designer clothings, fancy designer handbags (e.g. Louis Viutton - including 'fake'), brand new Blackberry phones, and so on.  Be aware to these girls who lives in 'Western' Style house! 

Many Japanese women can afford to buy these things, therefore you need to find out whether they are materialstic or not.

I never actually said to her "I think that you faked this whole ordeal", or "I think you are only with me for my money".  I could never be so crude.  I was just cautiously  skeptical throughout the entire thing.

I asked to see either her on cam with her injuries, or pictures of them, just because I was "concerned about her".

She never appeared on cam or sent any pictures.

Anyway, like, she was PRESSURING me to send money last time we talked, which was a few days ago, about whether or not I was going to send $80 for her phone. Repeating over and over "ANSWER ME, ANSWER ME.. ARE YOU SENDING THE MONEY OR NOT??"  I wouldn't answer, basically refusing, and she was furious.. And hasn't talked to me since.

Did I mention that she wanted me to start sending her 10,000 Baht every month?  Oh yes..  Not to her family after she relocates to the USA, to HER PERSONALLY.. Now.. So she doesn't "have to work so much". Honestly man, doesn't this all sound like the all too familiar Pattaya female con artist?  But I never accused her of ANYTHING to her face.. I am too much of a gentleman.  I only put my suspicions here.. and most of it is turning out to be right, or seemingly right on. 

Anyhow, as I said.. I am focusing my efforts on women already here in the country now, or women who CAN come to the country.  I am a bit busy now so I have kind of slowed my efforts.. 

Sorry if I offended anyone here who has a Japanese wife.  I am just saying that as far as materialism goes, Japan and Korea seem to be equivalent with the U.K. and the U.S.  I am a very non-materialistic, simple kind of guy.. Just give me a nice woman, a good family, and a winning Celtic team and I am happy..  I don't need new cars, fancy furniture, or the latest tech gadgets.. I am just kind of hoping to find someone else like that too.

Women from any country can be materialistic. One thing about girls from very poor countries is that they may not have had an opportunity to develop materialism, and may become materialistic after getting here. A woman from Japan has probably had that opportunity so should be easy to spot.

It seems sometimes that Asian girls are typically more materialistic than AW. Maybe it's just where I live but almost no girls here spend much money on clothes, fashion, make-up, etc.

I just live in an area, simply due to my job, nothing else...  Where it seems impossible to even get a date unless you're wearing designer clothes, drive a new car, and have a six digit salary..  I am just looking for a woman who just wants a decent-looking gent who can give her romance, love, stability, and kindness.. Because that's all I really have to offer.  I'm not looking for a supermodel, either...

The only reason I tried dating Thai women again is because I went the furthest I have ever gone in a relationship with a Thai woman... But she turned out to be absolutely NOTHING like my ex...  What was I expecting?

Sure.  $42K is the U.S. average.  Japanese average is $29k.  Most are actually used to living modestly.  As they say, 1st World country, 3rd World standard of living.  Don't go for the princesses, stick with the middle class girls and you'll find a match.

As Jeff said, some are, some aren't.  When we were passing through Nagoya, my wife mentioned that the city is famous for its "ojo-sama" (princesses), daughters of well-off businessmen with lots of discretionary income so the girls are into the latest fashion and have a style that is somewhat derivative of Tokyo Ginza or Shibuya style (though I wouldn't know the difference).  But there are plenty of girls both in the big cities and out who's dads are not big industrialists and thrive on dollar store items to decorate their rooms and their most expensive item is a cell phone.

And also, just because a woman comes from a wealthy family does not necessarily mean she will be a spoiled princess.  If she had a job for a sense of independence, it would have taught her the value of a work ethic and to appreciate what comes from your own labor, and also to value other things in life.  For example, my wife has a Japanese friend here who comes from a big business family in Tokyo.  Grew up rich and privileged, traveled, the works.  But when she was ready to settle down, she gave it all up and picked a regular American guy with a simple income.  He is quiet, easy going, devoted, faithful, supportive, all kinds of qualities she would never have found in a guy if she married from her social circle where men often feel entitled to keep mistresses because of their position.

This comes back to, stripped of all money, citizenship, social status, whatever, do you as a person, as a man, have qualities that a woman on an equal footing would desire in a husband.  That's part of the deal when looking to Japan, Korea, Singapore, or any of the 1st World Asian countries like Taiwan or Hong Kong: you cannot offer them a better life style, but can you offer them a better husband.  Workaholic husbands, abusive drunk husbands, philandering husbands, those they can find easy in their own country.  Are you different?

No offense taken.  It can seem materialistic because they got a bit more money to spend than most of Asia and their motto is "the customer is god" so they expect good service and good quality in their purchases even when they're cheap.

Dude, it is where you live.  Those lumberjack and slacker chicks are some of the most un-feminine women I've ever encountered.

I'm so sorry to learn of your recent troubles, you seem like a really good guy!

Consider yourself lucky that you learned a lesson early and inexpensively.  Too many of us get wrapped up in the romance and forget to use common sense.  I doubt you will do that again. 

It's pretty obvious that you have already made a decision, in case you are having second thoughts, don't!  If you continue this relationship, the drama will continue.  Every time she doesn't get what she wants she will threaten to kill herself.  Emergencies that require your financial help will be constant and you will be miserable and broke.

I feel for you bro... but you figured it out
