Sorry if this was asked before but...

How long was it from the DATE YOU FILED for her visa until the day she was accepted?

Evolt,

Congratualtions Man!!--Things have moved along well for you guys and I'm happy for the both of you!

Jorge,

You're getting wayyy ahead of yourself here, but again:

 >>Check out www.Visajourney.com  and compare visa types and your servicing center <<

They will give you an idea of what kind of time frame these things typically require. Typically, everyone's time varies somewhat.....

Good luck, man!

I guess I should also say congrats evoltnvii ... haha :D  Best of luck, hope you two spend many happy years together..

Well Robert.  There's an outside chance I might get engaged to her in September.  I confirmed my trip today with my boss..  Maybe I am just absolutely insane, and it's true I am, but its the only chance I have really got.  I want to file for her k1 IMMEDIATELY when I get back from Thailand.

Even if you only make one trip, you still have 2 years to file that K-1 petition.

In your case my advice is to SLOW DOWN and get to know her a lot better BEFORE filing anything...

Good luck Jorge,

I hope, somehow, someway, they can manage to give you some more time to spend over there. I am sure it would mean a lot to the both of you.

I know you can't be swayed into waiting, that there are some unusual constraints on your time and hey, things might just work out fine. There's a zillion quotes from "Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread" to "He who hesitates is lost" and in the end, it's just a gut feeling we all have to go with or deny.

I think one thing is pretty accurate, quotewise, I feel and that's:

'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all'

I've been there a few times and I'm not certain what my future holds for me/us, but wherever it goes, I don't think I'll quit and don't you either....

it took 45 days for the PETITION to be approved about 2 more months for all of the other BS hoops you  have to jump thru. But honestly man if you have to rush to visit fine but you have 2 years to file upon returning. Give it some time i waited about 9 months after getting back to file my petition. Thats just me tho do your own thing. Ill answer your questions about K-1 process the best i can.

Hey evoltnvii,

Did your lady get the ol' "Why it takes so long?" from jealous Filipinas? I filed my wife's K-1 Visa petition 4 months after I arrived home, in 2001. It went through the Texas service center, which was the s l o w e s t at the time. Vermont was the fastest. One lady in the barangay had her petition go through Vermont and had the Visa in her hand in less than 2 months. So the barangay standard became 1 month for the Visa to be approved. The formula was something like, "V-M=A (Visit-Visa Application - 1 Month = America) or 2-1=1"  Basically, two months the actual time of the fastest Visa approval, minus about a month for Filipino "time inaccuracies and tsismis," creating an expectation of one month for the Visa to be approved. Believe me, jealous neighbors counted the days and kept asking my wife "Why it takes so long?"!  It took 6 months for my wife's Visa to be approved, which was actually quite fast considering it went through Texas. Since people began counting from the day I arrived, the overall time was around 10 months. It would have been 9 months of that annoying crap, but my wife doesn't take crap from anybody!  ;D

She got a little of the "why it takes so long" but she just ignored them. In my case i had to move 2 times in 6 months for work and had nothing no money no furniture etc (thanks bush administration) i got back in june 09' and didnt file until the end of february. I would have filed sooner but my financial situation was dismal for a while im just now coming out of it and i was not going to bring her here without the stability to take care of her. The other thing is spending the extra time apart after coming home  reinforced our relationship by testing it i think. I just think some guys really rush things and need to slow down. If shes really the one she should be willing to wait for you right? Why not take the time and do things right?

Yes-this is too true:

>>Did your lady get the ol' "Why it takes so long?" from jealous Filipinas? <<

Jealous Filipinas tried to use every day she wasn't ready, with ticket in hand, to fly to the USA, as some weird sort of reason of explanation that I wasn't arranging for her--or even that it was all a big lie--a sham. Even one of my wife's cousins ran that crap.

Sad commentary, but as we've said, they can be very jealous people.

The really sad commentary is not so much on the Filipino people as much as it is on us, I think. If there weren't so many kano pla-yahs who'd gone over there for nothing but good times with bad intentions, then there would likely be less of the tired comments from other women to the ones who have promises of marriage from kanos. :(

Oh yes the "crabs are alive & well in the PI.
one of Marilys coworkers is a crab & before I arrived she said something to the effect of " Oh i hear the those kanos are not much good & you should probably not marry one."
Marily handed her phone over to the crab & allowed her to read all of the text that I had sent, that was the last time the crab had anything to say. he he he  ;D ;)
