Bob:

Word up, man---We just live at the end of a 350 mile river that at it's origin, uses the water to cool a plant that produces nuclear power and weapons grade plutonium/uranium. It will always be 'special' they tell us. The military uses long stretches of the river for training Marines and US Army Rangers in special ops and weapons testing.

I don't think that the government thinks we should worry about the 7600 pound hydrogen bomb they lost a little ways off shore in 1958 and never recovered, with its conventional explosives, as well as its highly enriched uranium, 'plutonium trigger' and nuclear capsule intact. The government says it's otay--so what me worry?

Oh yea--and there's probably a couple hundred miles of shoreline alongside hog farms and cow pastures. And it's the third busiest container ship port in the USA, with the ships coming 21 miles up river to unload.

Now how could ANY of that have anything to do with making the water warmer at the end of the river? They give a LOT of thought into our river! They have even dredged it from its natural depth of about 20 feet to over 40 feet deep and are planning on bringing it down to 50 feet for the latest 'Panamax' ships to more easily come on up. It's only caused a few salt water intrusion leaks in the underground fresh water aquifer that supplies fresh water to the three states that sit above it and the Army Corp of Engineers will make everything copacetic and has given their blessing.

Meanwhile, we got 14 foot gators with eyes that glow in the night AND day! I caught a 45 pound striper bass that had three tails! I hear they've introduced flat head catfish to the river that will top out at over ten feet, because they're not from here and have no competition! Word is that if you tie a rope to a flat head's tail, you can slalom water ski behind it. The place is alive! We got catfish a jumpin and paddle wheels pumpin. Enough dude! I gotta go wax down my surf board--Aloha!

.

I just wanna pipe in on the Nursing License.  No matter what else you do you need to make sure that she is licensed in the Philipines BEFORE she gets here.  My wife got her batchelors, but didn't want to talke the test in Manila, because she would have had to stay a while longer to get in on the next exam.  I WISH I could do it all over again!  Between her school delaying transcripts, always needing some new fee in addition to the ones we have already paid and CGFNS fees and requirements, I am now resigned to the fact that she will never - as in ever - get her nursing license.  This has caused us no end of hardship financially and emotionally.  Finally, recently, we just agreed to let it go for the sake of our marriage and move on.
Keep the Faith!

well it's looking like Marily will start her review class on Aug. 9Th.
Its 2.5 months long & she may be able to take the test so she can be an RN about a month later. So all is looking good on that front. She found a review class close by( just a jeepney ride away) & they are offering a discount for the next 2 weeks. They will take p2000 off the normal course fee if we pre pay. so i should only have about p13,900 ($280) into the entire class, sounds good to me. :)

Howard sorry to hear about the jam your wife found herself in.
I am not sure about where you live but in many small towns like where i am the local fire dept. is always looking for volunteer EMT's & they are willing to pay for all of the training. I think it takes about a year & they normally  send you to night classes.
If your wife already took all the nursing classes she would just skate through an EMT class like it was nothing. I also know that they do hire people on full time in many of these small towns. i guess they like to always have a couple of full time hired employees just in case  none of the volunteers are available to take a particular call, like during the day when many people are working their regular job.

just a thought , not sure it would work for you where your at.
good luck, keep us posted

Piggy,

You actually see an upside?

Over $330 USD for HALF the rent!!

I think Heruamen was paying close to that for an entire house in an exclusive neighborhood in CDO!

This is a test as far as I see it, one that you probably should fail in terms of paying.  You need to really understand Marily's position clearly on this also.

Hello, I'm new to this board although I've been aware of it for a long time.

I've been living in the Philippines for several years now, although that may change.

I was taught as a child that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.  As such, I don't like to get involved in these discussions.

However, I guess I am tired of seeing this type of situation over and over again.  It has already been said, but I too find the rental amount to be too expensive.

Overall, I think I would take Zulukong's advice unless you can find good reason not to.  Perhaps you recall the old saying, "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me."

I'll leave it at that and wish you luck.  At least your wife is supportive of you.  That is a good thing and often not the case.

Good Luck,
Jay

thank U for your input Jay. maybe i was unclear in previous posts, Marilys rent is only p7000 a month. her sister has not paid her share for some time.
that "was" the problem, not now thought, i already paid the past due amount.
even thought it was not really mine to pay!!
Marily has cut off all communication with her sister who is in the province most of the time. (which i think is a great place for her) ;D ;D ;D
