Hi there
« on: June 06, 2010, 06:37:23 PM »
Hi,
I found this site via Latin-wife.com.  I am probably going to head to Colombia next year to try to find the love of my life.  I plan to go next may.  Currently I am paying off debts and teaching myself Spanish.  I have done cursory research and I will probably go with the latin-wife.com site.  Alot of the other sites have a very very very poor presentation and I would not trust them with my money.  If anyone has any good links I should look over or if there is a bunch of stickeys that say Newbie read this first I would love to see them.  Either way just saying hi and happy to be here.

good luck and keep practicing your spanish..the more you have the better your chances to choose well and relate with the ladies...most don't speak 2 words of english in barranquilla...although i've run across a few that do...you can trust the latinwife website...i'd say 85% or more of the gals i requested to meet showed up to the group meetings...they look nice in the photos and better in person...

if travelling to CALI..All colombian girls is a so-so agency...you can also look at HI5 which is a social networking website..you might be able to find a lady there if you look hard enough..

Fathertime!

Hi FT.  I wrote this post yesterday and then I spent about 2 hours (actually according to the clock at the top 2 hours & 13 minutes) researching (reading threads, etc).  I found a lot of your posts to be really helpful so thank you for all your contributed.  Are there any "must read" threads you would suggest?  Currently I am working on a contract which expires next May so that is why I planned to go then.  That will also give me another 11 months to continue to work on my spanish.

If you dont mind I would like to ask you some questions

01) Any must read threads?
02) What is the difference between Cities (why would someone want Melledian over Cali)?
03) Any general suggestions besides the ones suggested above?
04) Anythings you specifically suggest staying away from?

Again thanks for all you have contributed.  This site has been pretty helpful so far.

Hi!
Thank you for the warm welcome.  I am doing the best I can with Spanish.  Right now I am using a combination of audio cd's, rosetta stone & a program called fluenz.  I have been at it a month and one think I can say is I can read it much better then I can speak it (which is not actually that helpful lol).  I plan on continuing to gather what information I can from this and other sites (one of my next steps with this site is to read Jamie's archive).  As the time gets closer I will probably contact him and see how much it will cost (not just his service but the grand total, ie money while I am down there, an idea of tickets, etc).  As far as time I plan to spend 2 weeks down there.  Unfortunately I have a job where I will probably not be able to take off more time then that so I am guessing this will require 2 trips :(

Again thank you for the welcome and any advice you can offer I am defintiely receptive to.
