I received the I-797c,notice of action. Saying my petition has been approved. My Fiance is not sure of what to do next. I told her to call the embasy. They required 18 dollars just to call. Does the government try to bilk alot of money out of people to get this approved? What course of action did others fiance take? Also it says on the I-797c form approval notice is 10/26/09 to 02/26/10. Is this the time you have to get visa approved? I live in northern PA. and would rather she come in late spring instead of the heart of winter. That would be a shock to the system. Any advice would be appreciated.
First, nobody ever said that this would be cheap. Stand by to pay many more fees down the road!
There is no reason for her to call the Embassy now. She should receive a letter from them with an instruction packet. She will need to call later for an appointment, after she is notified.
She should be gathering all her documents for the interview by now. Does she already have her passport? Completed the CFO seminar? Have her NSO documents?
See:
http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3217.htmlShe can download the interview preparation packet from the Embassy web site and start getting everything prepared now.
http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdfShe can also download the visa application forms from their web site.
The visa petitions are valid for 120 days after approval but as long as you don’t cancel it, they will automatically renew the validity date until she is approved for the visa.
Do not worry about the weather where you live. Have her travel whenever her visa is approved. She will not die from any cold weather shock to her system! (Note: the visa is valid for 6 months after issue)
