Hotels in Cartagena
« on: February 02, 2009, 07:56:02 PM »
Any good hotels for under 100 a night in Cartagena? Not wanting a dump, just something reasonable. Hard to find anything online fore less than a 100 a night. Thanks in advance.

www.hotel3banderas.com   It is an awesome place in the old town, near hotels that cost 3-4 times as much. Awesome restaurants nearby also...such as El Santisimo  http://www.restauranteelsantisimo.com/

Ask for Angela in the front office. She will hook it up

I would stay on the beach.. but that's just my personal preference. I've seen a lot of pictures and the views look great.
Retiring in Tela, Honduras is 14,600 days (haha)

I have stayed at both the beach and old town and they are two entirely different experiences for sure. One thing to think of though.....Cartagena's beaches are not very good and are infamous for vendors that will basically ruin your day. To go to the nice beaches you need to go to one of the islands off the coast of Cartagena. The Hotel 3 Banderas has a "sister hotel" on one of those islands and if you go to their website, I think there are some pics of it. They will provide the transportation. I think it is called Island of the Bombas or something like that.

The hotels on the beach area seem like they are a lot cheaper than Old Town. I think that is because Cartagena is not really a beach town. It is more about the Old Town, the clubs,  the history.

It all depends on what you are looking for.

Machine69 thanks for the tip, i had looked at the hotel before but did not see the link to the one on the island. I will pass it along to my woman and see what kind of rate she can negotiate for us and what she thinks of it. Looking for a romantic get away. I hate paying gringo prices.
