How can this process be changed?

350,

There is one thing that you could have done that would have alleviated most of your current problems…marry her over there and petition her for an immigrant spouse visa.

If she had come here as your wife with a CR1/SR1 visa, she would have stepped off of the plane with her I-551 (Green Card), instant work authorization, an SSN, and the ability to travel overseas anytime with no further paperwork required.

For anyone out there contemplating which visa process is best for them, I strongly recommend that you fully inform yourself of all of the advantages and disadvantages of each process (K-1/K-3/CR-1). Then sit down with your lady and explain everything to her in detail so that she will have a good idea of what exactly she is getting into. Then you can BOTH decide together if you want to marry over there or do the fiancée visa and marry here. There are a lot more factors to consider than the wait time for a visa!

Did you explain everything to your bride before you petitioned her? Did you explain to her that she might not be able to travel back home for an extended period of time while the paperwork was being processed? Did you explain to her that she may not be able to work or drive right away? Gentlemen, it’s YOUR responsibility to make your bride aware of all of these things BEFORE she gets here.

There isn’t much of anything we can do to reform this dumb immigration process, so you might as well learn how it works and use that knowledge to live with it, without all these huge surprises later.

Yep
Ray is correct. My wife went through Immigration POE and they did all the paperwork for her  for her SSC and withing one week she had that in hand and her Permenant Res card in another 3 weeks. She can come and go as she pleases outside the country and work when she wants to with no problem(finding work, well is another whole problem) . The spousal visa takes a while longer , a month or two , a little more $$ upfront and more documentation, but there is no hassles at all.
