Hey guys,

Hola Peru here I come in 36 days and 16 hours.... I have my plane tickets -Te amo Peru..

Well I am all set to go.. I am so stoked.. This is fantastic.. My girl is over the moon with happiness.. She is so sweet , nice and man is she beautiful.. wow..

So the plan is she is going to pick me up at the airport the morning of the 7 th.. I am going to stay in a great hotel and enjoy my 9.5 days with her.. She has booked off work for my whole visit so we will get a lot of time together... She wants to take me into her office and introduce me to all her friends and co-workers when I am there..

The day I arrive is her father's birthday and there is going to be a bash that night..Sometime during my visit we are going to try to get away for a few days and travel somewhere... She will have to have a chaperone with us if we go away and her parent’s permission of course... We will book 2 separate rooms with her and the chaperone in one room and me in another…

I want to bring some gifts for her family. Any idea's guys? She says she will not be happy if I bring anything for her because all she wants is me not anything else.. I will still bring her a little bottle of perfume or something since she sent my children, my mother and I a big box of gifts already by mail to me in Canada..

Have I mentioned how happy I am .. wow.. This is going to be great..I really really really really really like this girl and that is a understatement.. I AM NOT GOING TO HAVE A BACK UP PLAN.. Please respect my decision….

Any guys that have traveled to Peru with any suggestions on what I should bring or need ?

I will write more later....

A small box of chocolates would be a good gift for the family. Do they drink? Then bring a bottle of California wine.

You sent me your number and I need to call you, but for now I just want to say that no one will give you a rough time if you come back and say it didn't work out.  PLEASE keep in mind that you do NOT have to make this woman FIT your expectations: let her reveal herself for who she is and then decide if she is the one. AND DATING OTHER WOMEN IS A GOOD WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR PERSPECTIVE OF HER. (I'm not shouting, it's just emphasis.)

And to hell with beauty. Will it matter if she's a 10 when she files DV against you?  For that matter, what if she just wants to stay at home, eat chocolate and watch tv? Maybe that's her idea of being a housewife. A negative, critical wife is like a constant dripping and you won't be able to shut her up.

I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE: I saw a few things in my wife, but I was so determined that she would change once she was here that I just let them go by.  I dated my wife for 3 years and made 8 trips to Peru and spent time on the phone with her almost every day of those 3 years only to find out that she was physically abusive once we were married.

You owe it to yourself and your kids to use a little skepticism in this relationship.

S.F.

I am so happy for you !!!!!!!!!  i wish you the best of luck please remember to take it slow and believe in your hart.  Please ask a lot of questions !!!!!  Please keep an open mind and remember this is going to be a long slow trip !!!! If she is the one than you must plan a 2nd trip very shortly after your 1st trip i know like myself you have children to worry about in the the states but you must speak with someone how is close to you and get someone to help you with the children so you can travel many times to make this work!!!!!!!! I would bring a few small bottles of perfum for the female's in her family and a bottle of wine for her father!!!! They will be very happy to receive something small from you... please do not feel in anyway that if for some reason she is not the one that anyone will look a you any different. If she is the one you will know it i am sure. If not no big deal there are plenty of other nice sincere women out there.  Again i wish you all the luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk to you soon

Great to hear, SF, very happy for you both! Maybe a few little gifts exclusive to or representing Canada?

Perfume and chocolates are always a good choice.

Like Red mentioned, it is probably universally customary to bring some small souvenirs or handicrafts from your country. For dad's birthday, how about a bottle of good Canadian whiskey (Crown Royal)?

Photos are always appreciated. You could bring a small photo album filled with photos of your family, pets, home, and home town (postcards?).

You don't need to spend a lot on gifts. I would keep it under about USD $100 max.

Drink only bottled water and bring Pepto Bismol chewable tabs (take two before each meal).

Take lots of pictures!

  Hi SingleFather,
I'm glad to hear that you are going to visit your lady.I think I remember you saying that you've known her about 3 years now so you obviously have a connection there that is worth checking out further.Good Luck SF...

Let me know what you thought of Peru when you get back. I am most interested in Peru, the Culture seems like a better fit for what I am looking for.

Good luck and have fun on your trip

Just wanted to add SF, bring a camera with you and take lots of photos.Later on I gave my wife a digital picture frame with many photos of when we met and I also loaded her favorite song in it to play while the pictures changed. She loved it.Just thought I would mention this IF and only IF your lady turns out to be "the one".
As far as gifts go on your first trip? well, I always think about the woman and try to remember something about her to let me decide. As far as her dad goes...you can't go wrong with Crown Royal...good suggestion Ray!
