Just saying hello....
« on: November 03, 2007, 11:17:38 AM »
Hey guys.  My name is Jeff, and I am a 36 year old male.  I have done my share of dating here in the states, but have never tied the knot with someone.  I want to discuss this alternative with some individuals who have had positive experiences, and validate that these are not all scams.

Welcome to the forum Jeff.  I think you came to the right place.  Many can validate that these are not all scams, so don't worry.  Feel free to ask your specific questions in the general section.

I'd say very few of them are scams. Not that a fellow who doesn't do his due diligence and/or succumbs to the 'Candy Store' syndrome can't find a scammer.

Hi Jeff:
It CAN be done. My first marriage was to my overseas bride in my mid 30s. Not a day goes by that I don't thank myself for holding out until I found what exactly what I was waiting for.

I am probably the biggest skeptic there is.It took travelling to a foriegn country on a regular basis for three years and finally living there for six months before I realized that considering a foriegn woman is worth it and even then I did more travelling and searching before I found my wife. I'm glad I did it.

Be skeptical.  It will protect you from commiting to marriage too fast.  Your first trip abroad should be with the absolute intention of NOT GETTING MARRIED OR ENGAGED.

I've been married 10 years and have a 4 1/2 year-old daughter.  It wasn't until my 3rd trip that I actually started to entertain the possibility of actually getting married this way.  I went the non-traditional MOB route in that I married someone near my own age.  Glad I did.

Marrying a foreign woman isn't all good.  There are positives and negatives.  Take your time and maintain both an open mind as well as a healthy skeptisim.  I think you found the right place to learn.  There's a minimum of BS here as well as a well-run forum that the owner and moderators don't let get out of control with excessive flame wars.

If you haven't already started studying Spanish, then start.  It's a tremendous benefit.  It's not necessary, but it sure helps.
