Direct TV or Dish receiver from US, work in colombia?

Don’t remember if this question was asked before, but will a Direct TV or Dish Network satellite receiver from the US work in Colombia without any modification?

Yes they have direct TV and you can get NFL Sunday Ticket for $5 a month!!!!, football is not popular in Colombia and it is the same with Basketball, the baseball is a little more expensive bot very reasonable in comparison to our standards

yes, i know they have direct TV , but does a receiver box from the USA work down there?? for example, if my friend in Nevada unplugs his satalite receiver from his house, and hooks it up down there for a week or so, when he is there, will it work

Well, he'd have to point it at the right place in the sky. That might be difficult for someone that doesn't know what he's doing.
