This is sort of funny, but puts Americans and foreigners in a bad light. . My friend was at mangos (disco) a few days ago, for a birthday party, sort of girls night out I guess.
Anyways, this guy is in there, getting pretty well lit, with a few other guys, starts thinking his “[snip]” doesn’t stink and every girl in the bar should want him, so he starts making an ass of himself to all the girls and I guess he made an ass of himself to the wrong girl, because her boyfriend got pissed!!! Started cussing at him and pushing him until some people stepped in between them. They kicked the guy out and that’s when he got it.

 Two local Colombians came up behind him, started wailing on him, of course he went down, then he got the shoe in the face treatment, I guess a few really good stomps on the face because after the guys took off, he was a  mess, my friend said  he looked really bad. Of course the idiot deserved it. He was lucky he didn’t get a knife in the back, or a bullet. You piss off the wrong guy down there, a Narco, and you got a serious problem. It sure doesn’t make Americans look too good to the locals.  Spreading that American charm!!!!!

I simply do not understand idiots like this.  I know a couple myself, and they are dangerous to even be around in public.  I hate getting swept up into a confrontation when I know that my "Side" was at fault!  I would rather tell my buddy, "Your on your own."

This embarrassing, idiot makes us all look foolish.  He must have been young or something, most people get over thinking they are so great & invincible after a certain age!

well it does sound like the guy was a drunk fool, but does he deserve to be pushed out onto the street and then attacked by two men and brutally beaten, no one coming to his aid?
two men beat up a drunk and kick him while he is down, seems a little harsh for just being a drunkin fool.
sounds more like a hate crime to me, colombians beating up a yankee.

Drunk fool or sober fool, it is best to remember you are not in Kansas anymore. As mudd suggested, he could have very unceremoniously been killed. Hate has much more leeway in Colombia. I have seen lifelong friends take more of a beating than described given to this guy there.

pan de bond, this isn't a hate crime, just some stupid gringo, thinking that since he is an American in a foreign country, he is above everybody else. we have the same problem with Americans going to Tijuana Mexico from San Diego, usulay young adults or military, not all , but a select few go down there, thinking they are better than everybody else with an attitude towards the locals, and get into trouble. happens all the time. this moron is just lucky he wasn't killed, actually, i was extremely surprised, he wasn't knifed in the back, being where he was,  because a life means a lot less down there than it does up here.

I've been to Mangos and it is anything but a pick up joint.

The place is huge and one of the most expensive discotecs that I have ever been to in Colombia.

I don't remember seeing one unescorted woman in the place. So of course you are going to have problems picking up a woman in a place like that.

It has been my experience that it doesn't take much to get into a bar room brawl no matter where you are. Just let a colombiano catch his woman checking you out and then let him see you making eye contact with her. hehehe !!!

Ouch, that sucks. He deserved it though.  I never drink heavily when in Colombia.  Might as well hang a bullseye on your back.  You are a big enough target as it is, why mess up your senses and put yourself at risk.  That guy lacked common sense.

That's why I avoid the whole bar scene in foreign countries all together.  You're looking for major trouble just going into a place with alcohol.  It's hard to predict what sober people will do in the first place, let alone a room full of drunk ones.  But on top of this the guy lacked major common sense acting like a total dick.  Wonders never cease.

if the tables were turned and that happened in the states it would be front page news "hate crime gringos attack drunken Latino!" latin visitor is attacked by americans, forced out onto street and beaten by two american men, not one passing american would come to aid of visiting latino. sheriff has arrested the two men and hate crime charges will be filed. latin community is demanding satisfaction.

I don't know where you all live, but a lot of people would have intervened where I live no matter what race or ethnicity you were.  Now it would be different if someone was packing.  I don't think the guy deserved that either, but you have to be more alert and smarter in a foreign country.  I would never have went to Mangos.  I try to avoid large crowds of people when I travel to Colombia.  I would rather chill in a more manageable environment.  Once you are already diffused and beaten down, I think that it is pretty cowardly to beat on someone defenseless. 

On the other hand, I also get tired of seeing Americans going to other third-world countries with an elitess attitude.  It gives us all a bad name.
