Hello, my name is Daniel and I am recently divorced after a year seperation. As I was thinking the other day about what I want to do from here and how to go about it when I recalled that a friend of mine from several years back that I no longer have contact with had pursued a wife from asia, and the couple was very happy well into their 3rd year when circumstances led us in different directions. I also recalled of another friend that tried the same thing that ended in divorce after 3 years without the woman ever making it stateside. The thought of what the first friend got interests me, so I thought that while I'm in my state of healing from my previous (into herself) wife, I can investigate the idea to see how I can be sure to end up with a situation like my first friend did. At this point, I'm not even looking for a bride, but merely testing the waters (so to speak) to see what it will take when I'm ready again. The reason that I want L-A? I've hung around some other L-A's and found them to be a true joy just to be around. I'd rather hang around my L-A friends than any of my other friends. For awhile I was starting to pick up on some of the spanish language when I was able to hang around them weekly, but life changes and it's been over a year since I've been able to hang around those friends and I've forgotten more than I've remembered of their language. Although I never did pick up enough to say more than a couple of words at a time. The problem right there is that in that circle all the ladies are married, so I thought I would investigate the possibility of bringing up a bride from South America when the time is right. I have put on myself a time frame of at least 2010 before getting married again so I have plenty of time to do my research and start looking.

Now the big question on my mind in regards to researching this possibility and avoiding any pitfalls before I get started searching is, "where to start?"

Daniel

Hi Daniel, and welcome. A great place to start is by spending a few hours going through the rather extensive archives. It goes back 7 years or so and is filled with the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  Hi Daniel,
I was in the same position as you about ten years ago and I started a journey that I'm am glad I started.I am now just married again but I spent the last ten years not just dabbling but researching one thing: Should a single man consider a foreign bride.....my results: yes it is definitly an option worth considering. While there are single women here in the US that would make a good partner(few and far between)foriegn women(in my humble opinion) make better partners for marriage. I came to this conclusion after spending alot of time working and living in Mexico and then travelling to the Philippines and Colombia South America.I have been a member of intro agencies and have went at it on my own...and I have absolutely no regrets.Whatever path you choose..good luck my friend and if you would like to ask me a question...please do.I may not know everything there is to know about the subject but I have not just "fiddle farted" around with it either.
           Thanks,
           Researcher

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've already started scanning the archives, but I can see that it will take me some time to go through all the information there because of the many posts. But that's a good thing, the more information that I can get, the better prepared that I'll be when I decide it is time for me to start looking. (as long as I don't drive myself into a condition known as information overload) I'll just have to digest it a little bit at a time. But as of right now this is a research project for me (research seems to be an odd hobby of mine, I start looking into something and I tend to research it until it can be researched no further...lol) Anyway, thanks again for the welcome.

Hi! Take your time mi amigo. The journey will require lots of patients and time.  If you choose online dating, the first step is to correspond with some of these women that you meet online.  You  will definitely need to visit so that you can share as many good and bad experiences as possible.  When I met my wife, I was not expecting to get married. I was just enjoying the companionship. We would do many different things together and with her friends which gave me good feel for the type of company she was keeping. When I departed, we emailed, skyped and web cam all the time. By the way, you will need to keep all records of correspondence for petition purposes if you wish to pursue finacee visa. But anyway, we became closer and closer to the point we even argued via chat! Can you believe that!? This type of long distance relationship will require strength and commitment. Since you are planning, I would suggest enrolling in some Spanish courses to get the basics. It will help but experience is the best teacher. If she is serious, you will see that she is trying to learn English.

It has been great experience and no regrets.  She is beautiful, hard working, passionate, caring, loving, considerate. She really completes me man. She keeps me in check for sure and lets me know to slow down and enjoy life.

p.s. the best match maker is in the mirror!
Best wishes,
Eric & Caro
