What are the rules about buying flowers in the USA and then carrying them on the plane with you to Cali?  Are there rules or restrictions?  I would like to buy some at the Miami airport and carry them with me to give to my girl in Cali.

Whether there are any rules or not, this is not the best idea. One, especially if they are roses, you are probably taking them back to where they came from in the first place. Two, you can pick up flowers anywhere in Colombia for the cheap. You would probably come out cheaper calling a florist there and telling them you want a truckload of flowers delievered to the airport at the time you arrive.

I am glad Papi has finally started to change his tune about preaching to guys that they do not need to learn Spanish. Not being able to speak the language not only makes handling simple things difficult, but hinders your ability to get around. I am sure a quick google will pull up some floristas for you. You can probably find someone who speaks the language who can help you set up the details.

Soltero....I am interested in suprising my Novia with flowers when she meets me at the aiport...not taking her to the florist and getting her some.  I understand the whole "how cheap stuff is in Colombia", the cost is not the issue, the issue is getting flowers in my hand, at the airport, without her knowing and making it a suprise.

In all my travels south, i do not think i have ever seen someone with flowers on the plane. I am almost sure they have Agriculture rules in place that prohibit taking things like flowers . I could be wrong, but have never seen anyone with flowers on any plane i have been on International.

I thought that's what you wanted. That's why I suggested having the florist deliver them to the airport when you arrive. You could either have them waiting for you so that you can give them to her when you see her, or, walk her over to a truck full of flowers and say "these are for you". I guess it depends on how you like to do things. If cost is not an issue (which I didn't assume it was), then for the same price as a handful of flowers here, you could get a truck full there as long as you avoid the "gringo tax". I am sure she would be surprised and happy whatever you choose to do.
