I agree with soltero. The google translater is better than babelfish. Try translating a block of text into a foreign language then take that output and translate it back to English. The Google twice translated version will be far better than the Babelfish. I use it more for French than Spanish, though, because my Spanish and Japanese, and Italian are understandable. I'll be damned if I can get the hang of French, though it's way easier for me to read and understand than hear and understand.

My wife has the same problem. She can understand Portuguese and Italian fairly well but is completely lost in French. Say what you will about the French themselves, the French language is the most beautiful.

Try    www.translation.paralink.com

It is the best FREE translator I have used so far.  It is similar to google, but I have had problems with the google in the past.

I don't know if you mean for using online while you are talking to someone or if you want something to put on your computer for use anytime. When i was on my way to Cali the 2nd time, i ordered a program called prompt. I installed it on my computer, when i went down and stayed at ACG, The latina and i would go up to my room, and type out what we wanted to say to each other, if i couldn't understand or she couldn't. It was funny seeing their reaction to a laptop, and watching their amazment as it translated for us. It worked great.

i don't know about these things. I just took Bundy's recommendation for a test spin...plugging in a letter from one of my past flames:

hello I write yesterday not that I happen. I am very happy to see you again; the hotel is confirmed that 82.000 more daily taxes is less according to the days that you remain. information of my school: it would give priority of 1984 - to 1989 in the school Oreste sindice. baccalaureate of 1991 - 1996 in the Cooperative school chief bitagui. if you need more information you warn me porfa call me the same week before going out. I hope that we should happen a few very good together days. kisses

Sounds like gobbledygook to me but i guess it is better than nothing
Red Bull may give you wings, but if Flakes could fly - BAQ is in fact an airport
