you, sir, are a boor. . .  :-*

I note you forget about "Giuliani" or "Guiliani" as you called him. Care to comment on your typo, capt pomposity, or is an admission of error beyond your vision?

BTW- I still liked Russell in his other movies. Did you see the one with Goldie Hawn? Cool huh :D

...go back to your room William3rd....you're not ready for the big leagues....

   1. To inflict (vengeance or punishment) upon a person.
   2. To express or gratify (anger, malevolence, or resentment); vent.
   3. To bring about; cause: wreak havoc.
   4. Archaic To take vengeance for; avenge.

I don't understand the point of this cut and paste post of an online dictionary entry. In the context you used the word originally, william3rd's correction of your error was valid. The word should have been "reek". I am not going to cut and paste the definition, though, because that is just corny, IMO. I truly tried to avoid pointing this out, but since you seem dead set on calling out the perceived failings of others, it seemed it would be almost negligent on my part not to remind you of your humanity before you dug yourself in deeper with your haughty indignation and condescending demeanor.

Please do not take this as a personal attack. Consider it more of a constructive criticism and a sincere desire to help you recognize an error. We all make them from time to time.

While any concern is legitimate in that it is important to the person making it and therefore deserves respect and consideration, people have to realize that the world is comprised of many different and unique individuals, and no one's point or opinion deserves to be belittled or blocked because it does not reflect the opinions of others. Everyone has the ability and the right to ignore what they so choose, or take it in and either debate it or agree with it.

Posting on a public forum is just like leaving the house in a way. Everytime you do, you expose yourself and your point of view to others. I find it incredulous that people don't understand this as it should be rather common if they do actually get out of the house on occasion. If there are those who feel that Dan and company are not moderating this board in the manner that they would deem acceptable, they really need to "get out more" and see what is going on elsewhere. I post on another site that has been called a "flamefest" and "having nothing to offer but insults", but knowledge can be found anywhere if you are truly open to finding it, and it depends on what your sensibilities can handle. The fact that things DO get out of hand there does not affect my desire to post there as I do not take electronic 1's and 0's posted in the form of words personally. If you feel like you are being "unprotected" here, again, you need to get out more.

There, you would lose your lunch money at the first post, and have your hat handed to you as you were shown the door. I believe that Dan and company are doing an exemplary job here and deserve the appreciation of the posters for a job done well that I would not wish on my worst enemy. Be very glad that I am not a moderator here. I do not get emotional over much and at least these guys care enough to address your concerns. You could cry, kick, scream, and yell...if I believed that I was being fair and honest, those contestations would be like the buzzing of a mosquito on a hot summer's day and waved off just as quickly. These moderator's seem to actually care about your opinions of them, and that would not be a concern of mine at all.

There will never be a perfect environment containing more than one person. You can agree with yourself (right or wrong) all day long. When and if you get tired of your own voice, you may realize that perfection is not all it's trumped up to be. People seem to need interaction, and in filling that need, you have to understand that you will need to interact at times with people who do not think like you do, or feel as you do about a given issue. That does not automatically make them wrong, just different. The minute you feel that your way is the only way is the minute you expose yourself as a person who can not have much experience truly interacting with others. It is obvious, but through interaction, encountering such people is as normal as encountering people of other types and opinions.

I like it here at PL and feel the moderators are doing an excellent job. I like it on the other forum also, as I like the people there and enjoy the freedom there as well. I do not worry about what the next guy is doing or saying, because I know that my responsibility is limited to my contributions, and I always try to police myself as best I can. If I don't like what the next guy is saying, I am not so full of myself and my opinion that I feel the need to squelch his. Again, I can choose to either ignore that person or respond. I doubt I would ever hit the moderator button, as it never even crosses my mind, regardless of the situation that I need someone else to deal with something that I find disagreement with. It just isn't something I consider...

But then, I get out of the house all the time...

William,

I'm giving you a vote for the well-placed color/font control humor in this thread.  And my vote is for "The Thing" as Kurt's all-time best movie.  He may have been brilliant on "Escape From New York," but I was distracted by Adrian Barbeau's  cleavage and unable to fairly judge his performance.

Patrick- as a sci-fi buff, having read "Who Goes There?" when I was about 8, "The Thing" is one of my favorites of all time. And Russell's role as McReady was brilliantly done. I also think The Soldier was well done but certainly nothing will ever top The Thing-except perhaps for Adriene Barbeau's top :o.

FTR- Spellcheck gave me the spelling on this name so I cannot vouch for its correctness.

Thank you for the rec!!!
