ok, no more bs. quickest way to get her here?
« on: February 23, 2007, 11:23:37 PM »
ok, i have found the girl i want to marry in colombia.  what is the QUICKEST way to get her here?  go there and marry her?  go there and apply for a fiance visa?  apply for a work visa?  i am opening a new restaurant/bar and she has been a bartender.  if that doesn't work, my dad owns a travel agency that specializes in trips to latin america.  so i could use that as a "specialty" career if needed.  all the legal crap is making my head explode.  so please guys, bottom line.  what is the quickest way to get her ass into the usa, married or not.  she has no visa or passport at this time.  thanks in advance

Why don't you try the old fashioned way?

Hire a coyote and smuggle the little polla across? That is the quickest way!!!! Then she could work for your new landscaping business ;D

Kidding aside- your best shots are either fiancee visas or alien relative petitions.

Since bartenders are a dime a dozen as are travel agents, you would be spinnning your wheels.

 ;D Ray, ROFLMA ;D

Dakota,

You have basically two choices.  The K-1(Fiancee Visa) or K-3 (Spouse Visa).  The time frames are about the same (say six months) but some allege the K-3 is quicker.  If you are already married to, or about to marry, someone from another country, this is the visa for you. To muddy the water there is another option that is automatically applied for by K-3 application when they file the I-130 (part of the K-3 process). Historically the K-3 was used to allow the US Citizens spouse to enter the US faster than waiting for the I-130 to be approved (since that used to take a long time). However, recent reductions in processing times have allowed I-130's to be approved quick enough that the IR1/CR1 visa process has been a quicker and better option for K-3 applicants. If this happens the K-3 applicant can abandon the K-3 route and pursue the IR1/CR1 instead. The advantage of the CR-1 (CR stands for conditional resident) is that as soon as she is admitted at a POE she is a conditional permanent resident and will be issued a "Green Card" with no further action.  This will expire after two years from the date the card is issued.  Then application is made to remove the conditional status and a permanent card will be issued.  If you reman married she can apply to become a US Citizen after three years total.

I do NOT think you will be successful with the employment route and could be asking for big problems if it is discovered.  Visa fraud is a serious matter so wait and take the necessary steps,

Good Luck!!!

The above information, concerning processing times, is not necessarily accurate and hasn't been for some time (i.e. like the last year).  I know because I am currently processing a CR-1 and have spent countless hours over the last year on VisaJourney.com.

I have no knowledge about work visas, tourist visas, student visas, etc., and therefore can't comment on that.

I know a little about K-1 visas, and K-3 visas, and am experiencing the CR-1 Visa process firsthand.

Dakota, my advice is to:

1. Study www.VisaJourney.com.  There are literally hundreds of people on there from all over the world discussing their Visa processes.  The site also has statistics which derive average processing times.  By reading the posts and reviewing the charts, you will be able to see what is going on for yourself firsthand.

2. Talk to an immigration attorney about your specific situation, because it definitely sounds like its deviating (or you would like it to deviate) from the norm.

a guy i know got his women here amazingly fast. I don't have the details but can try to get them yet i don't talk to him much. Apparently, he told the authorities they had wedding plans and they granted the visa. I am talking a matter of weeks. Again, we just traded a few voice messages so I don't have the details but it sounds like he got around the system.

The consulate??? must have been drinking rum or eating psychedelic mushrooms that day if they gave any sort of visa on the facts that you have given so far. 8)

I think this qualifies for a "three point basket" for PP.  Methinks it outdoes most any recent post in memory. Possible Google search is "young hottie USA visa in weeks".

Talk about a poster from the Twilight Zone...listen rookie, i got a message from the guy a couple weeks that he got married and she is here. He told them what I said above. Frankly, I could give a poop if you believe it or not. I really don't care. I don't have all the details and until I find the future Mrs papi, I am not going to put much energy into finding out more details.

No passport? No visa? No problem!

You could drive her across the border from Tijuana. Just ask her to sit in the back seat...

I can refer you to Gloria and Larry Blakely they are experts at the fiance visa process, I send all my clients to them, their fee is $200, substantially less than an immigration lawyer, from start to finish it takes about 4 months as long as you keep the paper work moving, call me at 330-501-0352 Mark

I did mine in 2002 and thats a long time ago. But I was very anal about the whole process and had everything ready to go ahead of time. So when I got a notice one day I dropped an envleope the next. The wife lived in Manila and could get to the Consulate quickly so everything on her end was done immediately also.

4 months is what it took just about to the day, back then

Be sure to read Immigration Service's page on service providers.

USCIS on "Finding Legal Advice":
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3dc29c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=3dc29c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Only attorneys in good standing and accredited representatives listed on the "Recognition Accreditation Roster" can represent a client before USCIS, the Immigration Courts, the BIA (Board of Immigration Appeal) and the U.S. Consulates.

Other individuals such as notary publics and immigration consultants can assist you by filling in the blanks on pre-printed USCIS forms with information supplied by a client and charge only "nominal fees as regulated by state law", but may not represent you before USCIS.

Good luck.
